Click up is a workspace tool that strives to increase productivity in its users. This application allows for collaboration through the many features it contains such as, tasks, docs, chats, goals and team management. It is free to use for various different purposes and teams through customization.
Furthermore, this software project management tool uses hierarchy to the layout of the work. The hierarchy contains three sections; workspace, space and list. Workspace encompasses the area where your work happens. The spaces are contained within a workspace and they represent high level categorizations such as departments or types of work. This section allows the users to select or deselect certain features. These spaces contain different lists within that group together related tasks. Folders contain lists that are grouped together. In a simple sense, tasks are the smallest units and everything builds off from them.
Tasks, as described by Click Up, are tangible pieces of work that can be delivered for a certain project. In Click Up, within a task feature, users can assign them to multiple team members, set the status of the task, label their priority and upload and comment files within that specific task.
Clickup also offers a feature called views to help the users look at their tasks in various ways, in order to customize the tasks to the kind of project they are in. Users can use this feature to look at all sections of the hierarchy, as described above, with multiple perspectives of each. The different kinds of views include a list view that sets the tasks in a simple and straightforward list with customizable separation headings. The board view presents the task in a board view of all the tasks in rectangles, where users can move them between stages of the project. The box sets up the tasks by a person so users can see the progress of their teammates. The calendar view sets up the tasks in a calendar by month, week or day and color customizes them. The gantt view shows the tasks timelines and the dependencies that have. The docs view allows users to create documents within the software and attach them all different places on the application. The embed view allows users to upload charts and tables from external sources. And the mind map view visualizes the tasks in a tree chart format.
Click Up also offers home and notification features in a convenient location below the logo. The home tab gives an overview of the users work tasks, deadlines and also lets the users customize the set up of their work. Additionally, the home page has a google calendar embedded in it where users can insert and take out tasks within it. The mentions feature lets the users know if they have a chat waiting for them to answer. The trending section within the home tab lets the users know which tasks they have been spending more time on. The comment subtab lets users know what action items have been created for them by other members when commenting. The notifications tab contains a huge amount of communication. If any changes have been made in their tasks, the users will be notified in this area of the application. Comments can also be seen here as well. Clickup also sends their users emails of notifications in their emails so they can connect to the application externally.
After creating an account and using this project management tool, I think that it seems helpful and efficient in helping users organize their work and collaborate and communicate with their team members while doing so. The initial thing that caught my attention was their motto, which is to save users one day every week by being effective in their productivity. I thought that not only is this something that can be really helpful to people in the workforce but also sounds very catchy to draw attention. Since their target is productivity, I think this mission statement is excellent. Next, the website layout is something that I thought was simple and clear. When first looking at the homepage of the website, I felt like I wasn’t as confused because the layout and formatting was done really well. There is a consistent look and feel to the application and given that it is a project management tool to help users stay organized, I think the simple layout might help users become more familiar with and not have to spend time trying to navigate through the application to find one thing. Along those lines, Click Up also offers a place on the website where users can go for help on navigating around the application and contacting them if there are any issues with it. I think adding this shows that they might really be true to their mission and are trying to help users get the best out of their experience. Lastly, one of the reasons why I like this tool is because of the embedded google calendar on the homepage of the website. I think letting users create tasks and customize them is one thing, I think it is completely different from a project management tool that connects them to user’s actual calendars. It, in a way, does increase productivity and help save the users some time from going to google calendar on their own and manually adding that task in, instead this tool does all of that for them. I think for me, that would definitely be a game changer.
Overall, I think Click Up is a great project management tool helpful in organizing and maintaining user’s tasks within a project. It has a simple and clear layout that limits confusion and incorporates external sources to increase efficiency, save time and increase productivity for their users. I really like their mission statement saying that they want to help their users one day a week by using this application. It is something that caught my attention and I enjoyed navigating around and using this application, I highly recommend it!
